Just a short little something.
How did she get here? This was not suppose to happen. When she accepted that follow request, she had no idea that it would lead her to this place. This moment. 9 months ago, they began to chat online. What started as a simple spark over their love for sports soon turned into an exclusive friendship. This was the only guy she had opened up to in such a long time and it was as if she had known this man for her whole life. Being extra smart and careful, they decided to video chat a few times and this made her become even more comfortable with him. Receiving amazing advice and tantalizing advances, she found herself falling. But she knew how to keep her feelings in check. This was something she was good at. It took over 10 years to get over her last heartbreak and she never used emotions after that. This was what she did on a normal basis, so why was it not working this time? Why would the simple beep of her phone instantly send chills down her spine knowing that it was him? Why would she stay up, exhausted from a hard day of work, to converse with him as he worked the night shift? What the hell was happening? She couldn’t do this. For one, she wasn’t ready. A relationship opened so many doors that she just couldn’t handle at the moment. And the biggest reason of all, well two. He lives out of state and has a girlfriend. She knew the cardinal rule. You never hook up with a man who has a woman, but what do you do when you feel compelled to continue in this type of relationship? What do you do when he complains about this woman that he has been with? What do you do when something that turns out as pure friendship evolves into something much more? How was she suppose to turn off these feelings? She had no choice. There was no happy ending to this. She would be hurt regardless. She could stop talking to him and risk the pain of missing him or continue to talk to him and fall even more and risk the pain of him never being with her. Damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t. Either way, she had to make a decision and fast. The universe felt like it was making the decision for her as she texted him and told him that this had to stop. But would that really work? Would she be able to give up the one thing that felt so right after years of everything being so wrong? Only time would tell as she waited for his reply.
